4 Matthew Thomas North Miami Fl South Florida Rmax Challenge 1021

Matthew Thomas epitomizes the sentiment of a motor racer. He eats, sleeps and breathes racing! Competing in his first local series in September 08, hosted by Homestead Karting, he quickly learned that he loved the sport of karting. Entering the 2009 Florida Winter Tour as a relative novice, he competed consistently in the top 7. Although he did not see a checkered flag, he did rank in the top 10 overall! Quite the feat in a Micro Max class filled with past National and International Champions!  At his home track of Homestead, Florida, Matt continued to hone his driving skills and set his sites in the United States Rotax Max Challenge (USMRC). At the 09’ Summer Shootout, held at the Oklahoma Motorsports Complex, Norman Oklahoma, Matt placed on pole for the first pre-final heat race; and ran top four all weekend long. Again, the checkered flag eluded the rookie. Despite this, he achieved a third place win; and was ranked 4th overall in his field. During the USRMC Nationals, Matt raced consistently all week long. He was plagued by mechanical issues and the rain.  In spite of this, he finished in the top 10 in the field as well. Completing his first year of racing in the Micro Max class, he is ranked 4th in the USRMC, 2nd in the 09’ Rotax Max Challenge – South Florida, and is currently ranked 1st in the Fall Championship Series. Matt is extremely excited at the prospects of running with the current USRMC National Champions of Kart Mini and RDD Motorsports for the 2010 racing season.

MRP Rmax Challenge 990

David Malukas    Home Track  Michiana Raceway Park   BTK Rotax/Arrow Cadet Kart
On a Saturday in September of 2008 a Father and Son made a trip to a local karting track for what was the beginning of a joint passion to race.  The only Father and Son team in the National Points Top 10 David and Henry are now at the track almost every weekend competing in their classes and competing well.  Starting in Kid Kart, moving to Rookie 1 and then to Micro Max David has developed the skills to compete.  A try at the FWT in 2009 did not go well but provided a knowledge that if the dedication to the sport was given he could compete at the highest levels.  Thru the course of the season the skill level grew to the point that a trip to the 2009 USRMC Grand Nationals provided a 7th place qualifying result and even with a spin in the final, a 10th  place finish against the best Micro Max competition in the nation.  This half of the Father-Son team looks forward to another year in Micro Max, another trip to the Grand Nationals and some Pan Am competition.  He eyes are on the prize that waits in New Castle, Indiana in July.
